Auctus Resources Inaugural Safety Awards

Auctus Resources 2016 Safety Awards

The Auctus Resources 2016 Safety Awards were presented last month at the Mungana Site which encompasses the Mungana Underground Mine & Process Plant, near Chillagoe in Far North Queensland. In a display of goodwill and in recognition of a job well done, the safety trophies were donated to Auctus Resources by the Health and Safety Systems Development Department of Sustainability Pty Ltd.

The strong culture and practice for Workplace Safety from all Auctus Resources personnel was recognized by Marty Karow, Senior Advisor with Sustainability, however, the 2016 Safety Awards came down to two personnel. This was not an easy decision as there were many others who are at the forefront of Safety Leadership at the Mungana and King Vol (new underground mine under development) sites.

Lionel Kelly (Registered Mine Manager) and Jim Faulkner (Mine Engineer) were presented their much deserved 2016 Safety Awards. Both Lionel and Jim have consistently practiced exceptional focus upon Safety within the workplace. In addition, Lionel with his tremendous assistance and support toward HSE system development, and Jim with his outstanding leadership of Risk Assessments and his work-crew during High Risk work.

The professional collaboration between Auctus Resources and their Safety consultant, Sustainability, has been an extremely successful one. Seven months ago, Sustainability were engaged to commence Health and Safety (OHS) system documentation development, in addition to routine Safety related support at the Mungana site.

During the past seven months, the tireless work by Auctus Resources staff and Sustainability has realised the following Safety related results:
• 100% personnel Site Inducted;
• Safety and Health system documentations developed and implemented;
• 100% scheduled systematic Health, Safety and Environment Inspections completed;
• 100% Risk Assessments completed; and
• 0 x Lost Time Injuries.

The above mentioned results could not have been achieved if not for the professional conduct, positive communication and great teamwork shown between Auctus Resources and Sustainability. This relationship ensured an effective and efficient development of processes leading to a safe workplace environment.

Congratulations to Lionel and Jim, and all at the Mungana and King Vol sites for placing the emphasis upon Workplace Safety being embedded within the Auctus Resources culture.
